"Evolution of the Prehistoric Sticky Note" - 1 Technical PDU

Tired of sticky notes and whiteboard sessions? Mind Mapping is used in requirements gathering sessions and the construction of the WBS.  Mind mapping has traditionally been presented as a tool for planning and organization, an effective way to develop, organize, and present multiple facets of the project plan.  Primarily used for the construction of the WBS, advanced uses of this technique also simplify the complex process of communicating the project plan.  When Mind Mapping is coupled with technology it simplifies the process and enhances communication.  This presentation will explain the mind mapping theory and how that theory can be applied to BAs and PMs, and will also demonstrate best practice techniques in mind mapping and how it relates to technology.  Participants will learn how to simplify the project life cycle and improve communication of a project plan.

"The Value of Appreciation" - 1 Leadership PDU

There is a quote that says "Someone who is made to feel appreciated, will always do more than is expected."  This is especially true in the workplace.  However, did you know that sometimes the way to show your appreciation can actually be considered a punishment by the recipient?  In this presentation, we will explore the importance of learning how your boss, employees, co-workers, and/or clients like to be shown that they are valued.  In doing so, we can ensure that they are made to feel appreciated, which leads to hard-working, loyal employees; excellent co-workers; and clients who will stick with you through thick and thin.

"Purpose Driven PMO: Empowering People to Deliver Results" - 1 Leadership PDU

There are 3 common questions all PMO Leaders must address to build successful PMOs.

  1. Why does you PMO exist?
  2. What value does your PMO provide to the organization?
  3. How does your PMO remain relevant as the organziation evolves?

Traditional PMO Leadership has struggled to respond to these 3 questions, as a result PMOs continue to fail at alarming rates.  Working with PMO Leaders across the globe as well as studying successful PMOs we now understand that most PMOs work on the WHAT and HOW the PMO functions rather than the WHY the PMO exists.  Through the research, analysis and experience we have since developed the Purpose Driven PMO framework and methodology.  To build long-term PMO success PMO Leaders should start by defining their Purpose and building off that foundation.  In this presentation we'll explore the Power of Purpose, the Purpose Driven PMO Framwork and steps you can take to kick your PMO into overdrive!
